A wise woman once told me that having lots of friends is highly overrated.. Sure there’s people we like and enjoy seeing out at a party or get-together every now and again, but there are only a few or less people you’ll come across that stay in your life forever and remain your best friends. The people who grow with you, who are there for you unconditionally, who get and understand you.. and of course those are the ones that are hardest to come by. I have worked with these two moms and their families for the past 2 (holy cow almost three maybe?!) years and who also happen to be life long best friends with one another. They went to high school together, had their first kiddos within 6 months of each other, and now live in the same neighborhood. I’ve not only enjoyed my time with them as their family photographer but I’ve loved getting to know them as people outside of work and how wonderful of mothers I think they are. Which is why I asked them a few months before Mother’s Day if I could have a play date and do photos of them just because…
Just because I want to say thank you for all of the years you’ve trusted your families and little ones with me.
Just because I want Rylee and Avery to have these to reflect back on and laugh about at a sleep-over in high school one day.
Just because I want to say how much I appreciate maybe the times you’ve opened your hearts to me, in front of the camera and behind.
Just because I want to say how much I admire you as mothers and friends, and to celebrate the sweet little people you’re raising Colton, Rylee & Avery to be already.
Just because.

above: Rylee may not be in that smile-on-comman stage right now (this pretty much disappears between age 14-24 months for all kids), but she certainly does always work my camera unknowingly. Just look at how she’s casually but elegantly got her hands in her pockets as mom puts the finishing touches on her outfit change.

above: Ohhh this one makes me pout my lip a little and go Awwwww. every. time. i see it. When did Avery become such a little lady?!

above: Looking back on these I appreciate the irony that we let the girls have play time in the park first in their fancy dresses, and then changed into their play clothes for the more staged ‘portraits.’ ha

above: what are best girl friends for other than sharing gossip, make-up, clothes and accessories?
