out with the old…

Hi, I'm Suzy, a photographer, mentor and mom of 3. I'm so glad you're here.

… and in with the new!  Yesterday Vasili and I had the best new year’s eve ever – for the first time we decided to just keep it low-key and stay in.  We made martinis and dinner, Vasili taught me how to play Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here on the guitar, and we kissed at both NYC and Chicago’s countdown to the new year.  It was quiet, we didn’t have to worry about finding a way home in the cold, and no hangovers today – it was wonderful :o)  This morning we cooked homemade waffles together for breakfast (courtesy of the waffle maker my mom and dad got me for Christmas) and thought about what resolutions we wanted to work on in 2011.  2010 was such a great year and I truly believe that this will be the start of even more incredible things for us and many others… even the weather is foreboding of change and new beginnings as it looked like spring outside our window today!

With that being said, I also wanted to thank everyone so much for your love and support this past 12 months.. from the clients who I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know to the people who just follow my blog from time to time, thank you for keeping us hopeful that we can make our dreams a reality.

(PS Photographers – keep an eye out for Basil, Bentley and Lucky at ProDPI’s booth next year at WPPI. Apparently ProDPI enjoyed BBL’s debut as santa and his reindeer so much they asked if they could use my holiday card as a sample at their trade show booths LOL!)

The Artist

Suzzane
brown

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked with individuals and families who understand the value of time. And the importance of preserving it well.

My work centers on creating living archives: carefully composed records of a life as it’s being lived. Not performances. Not surface moments. But the relationships, environments, and details that define a legacy.

I approach each commission with the eye of an artist and the discipline of a documentarian. Listening closely. Observing deeply. Shaping work that is meant to endure. Crafted on film, finished as heirloom objects, and designed to be held in your hands, lived with in the home, and passed down in your private family vault.

This is not photography for the present moment.

It is art made in service of memory, history, and the generations that follow.
