Hi, I'm Suzy, a photographer, mentor and mom of 3. I'm so glad you're here.

Although often times our clients request the sleepy, curled up dreamy newborn poses that you typically see on our site and blog, every now and again we get to mix it up with something different.  For Grady we did an almost entirely photojournalistic perspective of  his family’s life as, well, a new family.  And while this was somewhat of a last minute plan B,  I can’t imagine having done the session any other way.  On the day of his shoot, we tried our absolute hardest but this sweet boy wanted nothing more than to be held 🙂  Grady’s mama and I reflected on the idea that these teeny tiny newborns are simply mini-adult humans and just like us adults, they have their own unique personalities of what they like and don’t like.. they have good days and bad days.. and sometimes they just want to be held close and loved.  Honestly, I couldn’t be more happy with how these turned out and consider these to be some of our best work ever.   Thank you so much to this family for inviting us over to document their journey to parenthood and also to Grady for pushing us to try something new for a change 🙂

Interested in having an entirely photojournalistic approach to capturing your life and love as a new family?  Or interested in having a not-so-new newborn session beyond the traditional 2 weeks of age?  Check out Grady’s entire gallery (slideshow below) and email us at info@simplybysuzy.com for more details.

The Artist

Suzzane
brown

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked with individuals and families who understand the value of time. And the importance of preserving it well.

My work centers on creating living archives: carefully composed records of a life as it’s being lived. Not performances. Not surface moments. But the relationships, environments, and details that define a legacy.

I approach each commission with the eye of an artist and the discipline of a documentarian. Listening closely. Observing deeply. Shaping work that is meant to endure. Crafted on film, finished as heirloom objects, and designed to be held in your hands, lived with in the home, and passed down in your private family vault.

This is not photography for the present moment.

It is art made in service of memory, history, and the generations that follow.
