I recently went to San Diego for a training workshop by the Baby as Art team. They taught us how to pose and soothe babies, and how to improve on our workflow and post production editing techniques. I love things like this because I truly believe that if you want to be the best, or if you just really love what you do, then it’s good to recharge your creative vision every now and again by learning something new. It was a lot of fun but quite a hectic 2 days! Between 14 women, we photographed 7 newborn babies in just 2 days! (though I must give Carrie & Britt all the credit for that since they were the ones managing the babies the whole time). Here’s some of my fave images that I took at the workshop – I’m so excited to be able to offer such a unique style of photography to my doula and photography clients (but I must disclaim that some of these shots, especially the hanging one, are something that will take a little practice to nail down myself so I’m not sure if I can fulfill any specific requests for shots like that at the moment).
Thank you so much Carrie and Britt! For inviting us to the beautiful city of San Diego to improve upon our skill and being so open to share your knowledge for the subject of newborn photography, and also for inspiring us to be honest to ourselves and our work, to always push ourselves outside our comfort zone and explore our creativity. This is a trip that I will never forget.
