my life

Hi, I'm Suzy, a photographer, mentor and mom of 3. I'm so glad you're here.

Vasili and I went out of town this past weekend for a friend’s wedding and I am still reeling with joy and love from those three days.. another story for another day though..

But I mention our weekend of traveling because on these days when I find myself back in the office with an extra long and looming to-do list before me, I try to come up with little side projects to keep my spirits lifted and my motivation going (trust me when I say that it is a lot harder than one might think to keep yourself disciplined to sit at your desk working for 12-18+ hours at a time).

Anyway so today’s side project comes from my session last week, when I met up with this family who is expecting baby #2. In the car ride home, Sloane (who is now 2, can you believe it?!) wanted to listen to one of her favorite songs.. and kept saying “C’mon Suzy sing the song with me! C’mon Suzy!” I was sad to disappoint her that I didn’t’ know the lyrics.. so today I am dedicating my extra mental space to make sure I can sing along with her next time we meet up once baby brother arrives 😉

(and it also happens to be a really awesome song)

The Artist

Suzzane
brown

For nearly two decades, I’ve worked with individuals and families who understand the value of time. And the importance of preserving it well.

My work centers on creating living archives: carefully composed records of a life as it’s being lived. Not performances. Not surface moments. But the relationships, environments, and details that define a legacy.

I approach each commission with the eye of an artist and the discipline of a documentarian. Listening closely. Observing deeply. Shaping work that is meant to endure. Crafted on film, finished as heirloom objects, and designed to be held in your hands, lived with in the home, and passed down in your private family vault.

This is not photography for the present moment.

It is art made in service of memory, history, and the generations that follow.
