Now that Vasili and I have been together for almost five years we’re trying to start making our own traditions, one of which being that we’ve decided to pick one concert to go see together each year. Last year it was Roger Waters The Wall and this year we chose Coldplay. Or, rather, last year we technically made the decision as we bought tickets last winter (so worth it as apparently my dentist tells me they were impossible to get recently). So at the beginning of the month we went to see Coldplay live at the United Center for their Mylo Xyloto tour. I haven’t seen them perform before but I have always been in love with their music. In fact, whenever I’m driving in the car to a photography session, a meeting, the grocery store, a friend’s house.. well, you get the idea.. no matter where my destination, one of their CDs always cycles through my playlist at least once. But despite my intense love affair with their artwork I had no idea just how incredible it would be to actually see them in-person.. to see the passion in all of the band members while they played and lost themselves in their performance as over 19,000 people cheered them on and cried out for more ha can you even imagine what that must feel like?!

above: Vasili and I right before the show started. And poor Vasili, I had just dragged him from the first to the second to the first floor again and then all the way up to the third floor just to find a stand that still had the concert posters for sale lol I love him for not ever giving me grief about this kind of thing (when I want something, I am pretty persistent).
Anyway, I won’t torture you any longer.. I’ve included a little video below of the second song they played in their set after their intro and I think was one of the best magical parts of the whole show. At about 34 seconds my recording gets a little shaky as I leaned over to Vasili to say “Oh my gosh I think I’m gonna cry!!!” And at approximately 1:27 minutes into it is my favorite part 🙂
