I'm Suzy of Simply by Suzy, and I'm so happy you're here at my blog because I can't wait to serve you with lots of good stuff like a peek into all of my favorite photoshoots for clients, freebies and resources on motherhood, how to get more connected with your life, and how to take beautiful pictures of it.
I first met M for coffee to talk about doing some photos of her growing belly to surprise her husband with for Christmas. We talked about the usual stuff.. birth, babies, her scarf that she got from Italy as a gift from P (her husband), and also about her journey to becoming a mother of twins. A month or so later we did the session and she told me that she wanted to surprise P by putting one of my prints inside his favorite Helmut Newton book of photography that sits on a stand in the corner of their bedroom. For those of you who don’t know, Helmut Newton is one of the most amazing and iconic photographers of our time – he pioneered the way for fine art nude photography and, well, is a genius. So you can imagine the flattery I felt when I discovered that M loved her own photos so much that she felt comfortable enough to present them next to Helmut’s work.
Once she gave P his present, I came to their home a couple of weeks later to do a mini-session with him as well. I was a little bit nervous since P has incredibly good taste in photography and used to be a photographer himself… I waited in their living room while they finished getting ready and after a few minutes P came out to greet me. He introduced himself and showed me the photos I gave to M that they had already hung on the wall – right above where his Helmut book was sitting! We talked a little bit about photography and how he actually met Helmut Newton years ago in a night club in Vienna – he was taking off his clothes and dancing on a table with some models (what a surprise Helmut lol). M finished her make-up, put on a beautiful red dress and P turned on some music before we began. It was probably one of the most fun shoots I’ve had to date.
Anyway, thank you so much P & M for reminding why I love my job so much. I can’t wait to come back and see the twins once they’re here! :o)
