I'm Suzy of Simply by Suzy, and I'm so happy you're here at my blog because I can't wait to serve you with lots of good stuff like a peek into all of my favorite photoshoots for clients, freebies and resources on motherhood, how to get more connected with your life, and how to take beautiful pictures of it.
Last week I photographed Strange Arrangement playing at the House of Blues in Chicago. For those of you familiar with me and my work, you know this is completely different to what I’m used to photographing since I usually am working with babies, births and weddings ha! However, with that said, I have two thoughts – the first is that I think that if you are going to truly master your craft (whether it’s music, photography or computer engineering) then it’s important to be constantly pushing yourself and your creative limits by stepping outside of your comfort zone every now and again to see what happens (and even what you learn). Not only did I have an amazingly fun time (both photographing and listening to their music, they are truly so talented!) but I also found myself inspired and even wishing that they were playing for more than an hour, as my ideas for shots just kept coming to me well beyond the show. Because I allowed myself to try something new, I had a great time and discovered even more so why I am incredibly passionate about what I do, which leads me to my second thought – whether it’s for a hobby or within your job, I urge you to challenge yourself and YOUR creative limits to see what new experiences you find, what new inspirations you may discover, or at the very least, just to break up the monotony of your week 😮
Thank you Strange Arrangement for inviting me to photograph your band play at the House of Blues. Congratulations on playing at such a beautiful and amazing venue!
